An Overview of LUMVIM

The Liberia United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, LUMVIM, was established as a result of the civil crisis in Liberia. It began full operation in 2000 under the auspices of the General Board of Global Ministries, Mission Volunteers Section in collaboration with the Liberia Annual Conference. Our primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to reconstruction, renovation, and construction of United Methodist facilities that were greatly affected during the 14 years of war and as the future of our Conference demands. We are very grateful to all those who have contributed to this worthy cause through their gifts, talents, and time in the interest of the Church. We remain grateful to Bishop Arthur F. Kulah and Reverend James Z. Labala, during whose tenure this vision was initiated. We are also grateful to Bishop John G. Innis for his continued support through the United Methodist connections towards the upholding and support of this program. Currently, LUMVIM is staffed by a coordinator, a volunteer secretary, technical assistant, and an office assistant who work in partnership with volunteers of the Liberia Annual Conference at various levels.
